Nagoya Meshi Food Diversity Seminar held2024.12.16

The Nagoya Meshi Promotion Council will be holding a seminar on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 to deepen knowledge about food diversity (Muslim, vegetarian, vegan).
We will invite experts and people with experience to the seminar, which will focus on "Nagoya cuisine" and will allow participants to learn everything from the basics of how to respond to situations to practical examples.

◇ Tomohiro Sakuma, Representative Director of the Halal Japan Association
Originally from Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, he works to promote and enlighten Islamic-related businesses. He holds more than 150 seminars, training sessions and consulting sessions on Muslim-friendly practices annually for government agencies, local governments, various organizations and private companies. He works with local governments, companies and stores in various regions as a marketing support organization providing education, research and PR. He specializes in providing support for exports and expansion into the Islamic market, as well as inbound and Muslim human resource support.

Yoko Kawano, Representative of NPO VegeProject Japan
 While enrolled at Kyoto University, he introduced a vegan menu to the school cafeteria. Since then, he has been in Japan for over 10 years.
Promote the creation of options for vegetarians and vegans in the area, issue certification marks and promote tourism.
In addition to producing veggie maps to be distributed within the facility, we also provide consulting services to universities and companies.
He works as a vegetarian and vegan expert for national and local government projects.
The 7th Japan Vegan Awards will be held to recognize individuals and companies that have contributed to the development of veganism.
He won the grand prize at the "Best of" Awards.

◇Yamamotoya Limited Company Managing Director Hironori Aoki
 The fifth generation owner of Okutei Yamamotoya, a Miso-nikomi Udon Noodles shop founded in 1925.
Nagoya was one of the first cities to tackle food diversity, and has attracted many Muslim and vegetarian customers.
